The Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac is located in the sector of the Serra Prelitoral Catalana between the counties of Vallès Oriental and Bages where it occupies an area of approximately fourteen thousand hectares.
Its landscape is rough, with lofty cliffs and original monoliths, with vegetation spread over the slopes of the mountain or embedded in the typical canals and ditches.
The whole of the natural park is made up of two main ridges joined transversely in the Coll d’Estenalles, which stretch from north to south and dissolve from side to side in deep and leafy depths.
The highest peaks are Mola (1,104m) and Montcau (1,056m)
Since 1972, the massif of Sant Llorenç del Munt and the Sierra de l’Obac have been legally protected by a special management plan promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council. With the modifications of the years 1982 and 1998, the current protected area has been configured, which reaches 13,694 ha.
The Area of Natural Areas of the Provincial Council of Barcelona manages this protected area in collaboration with the municipalities that are part of its territory and with the participation of various sectors involved.
